Allegri Anticipates “Fun” Comeback if Juventus Improve

Coach Massimiliano Allegri wants his side to handle the Salernitana match differently from other games against minnows: “It is a complicated fixture because the negative factors are piling up and put pressure. We need to have a better approach compared to the Verona tilt otherwise we will get smacked around. We have to improve because what we have been doing is not enough.”

At times, Allegri came up with innovative solutions in similar situations in the past: “I have never invented anything, only made the most of what I had. Right now, we need order, concreteness, and serenity. It could be a fun comeback. I do not say we can win the title, but I do not know. We have to find a way to get out of the storm, not fight it.”

“Mattia Perin will not play tomorrow. Mattia De Sciglio is not 100 percent and will be back against Genoa. Weston McKennie has a minor injury, while Federico Chiesa will return only after Christmas.”

Allegri defended Alvaro Morata: “He had one of his best matches of the season versus Atalanta. He is being unfairly criticized. I do not think he suddenly forgot how to score. Either I do not understand much, or there are some prejudices. At this moment, we need Giorgio Chiellini’s experience and the freshness of the youngsters.”

Allegri rejected the notion of a transitional season: “That is not a thing at Juventus. We need to be aware of our position and the team we play for. We made it to the knockout stage of Champions League. I think we will get out of this moment. But we need to be calm; otherwise, we continue to make a mess. We have to start from the simple things, and then the rest will be a direct consequence.”
