Unlike in previous seasons, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has been very reluctant to move away from his trusted 3-5-2 scheme so far.

Allegri Continues to Back Szczesny, Sets Seasonal Goal

Massimiliano Allegri isn’t too concerned with the recent gaffes against Sassuolo. He addressed the last game and more in the lead-up to the Lecce contest (via La Gazzetta dello Sport).

“Federico Gatti has to stay serene. He’s just getting started. Errors happen, preferably not as big as that one. Wojciech Szczesny is our starter and will be in the XI tomorrow, but Mattia Perin is an important goalie. Moise Kean has a small shinbone injury. We’ll assess him today. The others are fine. One between Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa might begin on the bench.”

Allegri was quizzed whether Juventus lacked leaders.

“We have Danilo, Szczesny, and Alex Sandro, even though he’s hurt. Daniele Rugani grew a lot. We lost experience relative to last season but have more speed and carefreeness. We need to maintain the balance knowing that there’ll be some difficult moments like Saturday. However, they were tied to singular players and not the collective. We must not always be on a rollercoaster. We have to shoot for the best possible results. It’s an obligation. There’s great pressure and a sense of responsibility.”

Allegri praised their next opponents and took stock of the contenders.

“We’ll face a solid team. Roberto D’Aversa is an excellent coach, and they play very well. Pantaleo Corvino is one of the best directors.”

“Inter, Napoli, and Milan stand above the other teams in my opinion. The Nerazzurri are deservingly top of the table. We have to fight for a Champions League berth without setting limits.”
