Allegri: “Juventus Have the Duty to Win the Scudetto”

Massimiliano Allegri did not hide the lofty ambitions in the first presser of the season ahead of a friendly against Chivas Guadalajara in Las Vegas (via Goal).

“Juventus always start the season aiming to accomplish every possible objective. We have signed important players, some have experience, orthers are younger. Furthermore, it is our second year together and so we begin from a solid base. After remaining trophyless for the first time in ten years, we have the duty to win the Scudetto.”

Allegri heaped praise on the new signings.

Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria are extraordinary. We have onboarded a prospect like Federico Gatti and then there are many others I have to evaluate attentively. I am very happy for the arrival of Bremer. He is very physical and possesses the skills we were looking for. There are not many defenders at his level and the management worked very well to promptly substitute Matthijs De Ligt. I am satisfied, but now it is time for the matches to start because there is just one month to go before the opener.”

The gaffer touched on the opponents.

“It will be a nice test because they are a quality team and they are doing well in their league. We know Mexican football, and they have some good players. They are well-organized. It will be the first of three fixtures that will help us better approach the season.”

Allegri closed with some remarks about MLS.

“Football has grown a lot here in the United States. Stadiums are often full, and the fans very passionate. That helps. Weston McKennie is probably the best American player in Europe. It is important for him to keep performing at high levels as he is doing with us”
