Max Allegri Praises Juventus Display in Narrow Inter Victory

Juventus’ 15-point deduction seems like a thing of the past now, as they rise back up the Serie A standings following a 1-0 victory over Derby d’Italia rivals Inter.

Speaking to DAZN (via Calciomercato), coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted it wasn’t easy for Juventus to muster a victory, as they edged the Nerazzurri by a single goal.

“Let’s say that tonight it wasn’t easy, the team played well and we conceded little. We missed 3-4 easy chances, so we have to be more precise. The lads gave me a nice break.”

Allegri also praised his team for improving as the season has progressed.

“There is a general growth of the whole team, I would say also at a defensive level. The midfield trio, but also Miretti himself, we must continue to improve. Locatelli is very good in that role there. I always say that from the outside, anyone who doesn’t experience this situation cannot understand. We fought and it’s not easy to find motivation, we’re in the quarterfinals of the Europa League and the semifinals of the Coppa Italia. We’ll have an important season finale.”

Finally, signing Kostic was exalted by the Italian tactician.

“We’re talking about an important player, apart from at the end when he wanted to let Vlahovic score. He defends much better and has better game times. Vlahovic played his best game since he’s been at Juve. At Juve, the Under 23 have put together 4000 minutes so far, we are proud of that.”

Filip Kostic’s solitary goal was enough to hand the Bianconeri all three points and a first away head-to-head win against the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza since 2019.
