Alvaro Morata Looking Forward to Euro 2020, Unsure About Future

Alvaro Morata is set to have a prominent role for Spain in the upcoming Euro, where he will share time with Gerard Moreno as the leading forward. He spoke about the competition in an interview with Radio Marca.

“It is a pride for me to wear the #7 jersey, but also a major responsibility. I have grown up seeing a striker donning this number with the national team [Raul], which motivates me a lot. I hope this could be my tournament. I have worked very hard with Juventus to be here; I am delighted for making the squad.”

He commented on the exclusion for Serio Ramos: “It is a pity that he is not in top condition and that Luis Enrique had to make this decision. We wish he were here with us, but we have to move forward.”

Morata explained how he handles the criticism: “I am always on the forefront regarding the negative comments, but I look for them. I do not read many compliments since I want to get better. Nobody here will get angry if they get slammed for not playing well.”

He is likely to stay at Juventus, but the move is not official yet: “We had a complicated year, but I was called up and I will give everything to win with the national team. I do not know where I will play next season, I am here now. My agent is handling it, he will let me know; I have no news about it. I have a nice home in Madrid. This will be certainly my most serene summer out of the last six or seven ones. It will be even better when they will make the call.”
