Ex-Milan midfield ace Massimo Ambrosini believes the Rossoneri should not get distracted by the current one-point difference between them and Inter at the top of the table. The Nerazzurri sit in third place with nine points, one ahead of the crosstown rivals. However, the red and black divide of the city is still unbeaten, in stark contrast to Inter, who faced a crushing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Lazio.

The first derby of the season takes place on Saturday, and Ambrosini believes the two best clubs in the league will collide. Speaking to DAZN (via PianetaMilan), the iconic midfielder took stock of the highly anticipated encounter.

“Milan and Inter are the strongest teams in Serie A and I think they have proved it at the start of the season despite both having already faced setbacks. It has always been a very open game in recent years.”

He demanded his former club not to pay attention to the table.

“The one-point advantage currently held by Inter over Milan shouldn’t be a distraction.”

The eternally fierce rivals take on each other in the 177th Serie A Derby della Madonnina Saturday.
