Ancelotti Addresses Links Between Asensio and Milan

Carlo Ancelotti took part in an Italian media tour and touched on the recent ties between Milan and Marco Asensio: “He has extraordinary quality. However, he has struggled with injuries in recent years. He suffered a major knee problem, and the recovery has been slow. If I had to make a technical evaluation, I would say that he is an important player. I do not know what his future will be, but he is talking with the club to extend his contract.”

The Spanish striker has one more year in his current deal with Real Madrid. Therefore, he is a candidate to depart next summer. The Rossoneri could be one of the contenders since they are seeking new attackers, but he has considerable wages. Although, the potential Investcorp takeover could change their strict payroll policy.

Ancelotti also spoke about his special connection to Milan in an interview with Radio Rai: “The 2004 Scudetto was a great run. They are one of the teams I hold dearly in my heart. They meaningfully contributed to making me grow as a coach. I might return one day. However, I will assess that once my stay at Real Madrid is over. If it lasted 20 years, then it would be time for me to retire. They do not need another consultant. I think that Paolo Maldini is doing a fantastic job.”

The veteran coach addressed the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “He could do anything he wants considering his knowledge about football and the locker room dynamics.”
