Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has given his assessment of potential meetings with the Italian teams, with Inter, Milan, and Napoli all progressing to the last eight of the UEFA Champions League. The ex-Rossoneri coach believes there are no favorites for the title but pointed out one team in particular to be wary of.
Speaking to Sky Sport (via FCInterNews) after Los Blancos’ 1-0 win (6-2 on aggregate) over Liverpool in the last 16, Ancelotti revealed his thoughts going forward in the continental competition.
“I would see a match against Inter from the perspective of Real Madrid, not Milan. Napoli are very dangerous, but in general all the teams that reach the quarter-finals are insidious and there will be a lot of struggles to continue on the path.”
When quizzed if Real Madrid are favorites to retain their crown, Ancelotti pointed to Manchester City.
“Are we the favorites? Yesterday City scored seven goals, we will have to suffer in every match.”
The Italian veteran didn’t shy away from answering the question of a potential confrontation with Milan.
“I hope in the final, in Istanbul, but the road is long.”
The draw for the final eight will take place tomorrow, as clubs eagerly await to know their opponents in the second knockout stage.
