Andre Onana Dismissed from Cameroon’s World Cup Camp

Andre Onana has been sidelined from the FIFA World Cup due to disciplinary reasons ahead of the clash against Serbia. A source at the Cameroon Football Federation leaked the news (via beIN Sport) before the crucial group stage game that ended 3-3, adding that Devis Epassy, who plays in Saudi Arabia will take over reigns between the posts for the rest of the tournament.

The Inter shotstopper reportedly came to a verbal disagreement based on tactical plans with coach Rigobert Song. The difference of opinion has warranted the former Ajax keeper to leave the country’s camp at the 2022 World Cup, which means he will leave having just made his World Cup debut.

Andre Onana was chosen to star against Switzerland, a match Cameroon lost 1-0, but he will no longer be at the team’s disposal going forward – most importantly in the next do-or-die match against Brazil.

The Ajax youth product has 34 appearances for Cameroon since making his senior debut in 2016.
