Free agent Andrea Belotti is inching closer to a transfer deal to Roma following a rather hushed summer window that saw no teams truly materialize their interest in him. Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho has already revealed that he wants the ex-Torino marksman, with the player’s representatives currently at the Trigoria training center to hold final talks with the club management.
According to Sky, the operation between the two parties is in the final stages. Roma are about to offload Felix Afena-Gyan to newly-promoted Cremonese on a permanent deal, thus unlocking the arrival of Belotti. The Euro 2020 winner is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Giallorossi. He will serve as Tammy Abraham’s direct alternative in the frontline.
Belotti has been linked with several clubs in the past, including from England, France, Italy, and Turkey. He reportedly rejected Lazio’s moves most recently, as they tried signing him as Ciro Immobile’s second-in-line. However, he is now on the verge of wearing the jersey of the other capital side.
José Mourinho: “I don’t know if we’re gonna sign Andrea Belotti, but I can speak about him as he’s still a free agent and I can say that I’m happy to know that he wants to join Roma”. ?? #transfers
