Argentina Coach Scaloni Vows Game Time for Beltran

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has vowed new Fiorentina striker Lucas Beltran to rack up minutes with the national team. The ex-River Plate center-forward has been tracked regularly by the Albiceleste management and is now being handed his first call-up ahead of the match against Ecuador.

Although Beltran didn’t appear during the 1-0 win over Ecuador, Scaloni gave his thoughts on the exciting marksman.

“He is with us because we have been following him for a long time. We were already in contact with the River Plate technical staff. I don’t like comparisons but I admit that he is an interesting player, who will get minutes and who can give us something different. The best thing what I noticed is his attitude and his desire to learn and this already means a lot.”

Vincenzo Italiano has utilized Beltran regularly ever since he arrived from River Plate in the summer transfer window. He already has 156 minutes under his belt in 5 games so far for the Viola. The striker possesses an Italian passport but featuring with the Albiceleste would obviously prevent him from switching to the Azzurri.
