Inter legend Javier Zanetti has praised fellow countryman and current striker Lautaro Martinez for developing his trade year after year in the Nerazzurri colours. The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for Inter this season despite not racking in big numbers in terms of goal contributions. He has five goals and two assists in 14 matches this season across the UEFA Champions League and Serie A.

Zanetti spoke to Gazzetta.it (via FCInterNews) and shared his thoughts on the ex-Racing Club forward.

“My impression is that he has had a remarkable growth, every year he has grown a lot. Today he is an important point of reference for our club and also for Argentina.”

The former Argentina captain backs Martinez to keep up his form going forward.

“He has reached an age of maturity that allows him to perform as well as he does. I hope he can continue like this.”

Since moving from Argentina back in 2018, Martinez has racked in 79 goals in 194 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
