Argentine forward Joaquin Correa’s story in Nerazzurri colours has not gone as expected, with the former Lazio marksman bagging just 4 goals in 33 appearances for Inter so far in an injury-laden debut season. His loan at Inter ends in the summer but the club has already obliged in buying him permanently with a €23.60m already being agreed upon by the two clubs.
According to reports from Argentine subscription-based sports outlet TNT Sports (via FCInter1908), the Nerazzurri are disappointed with El Tucu, deciding to put him on the transfer market, likely to aim for a swap transfer with interested clubs.
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has already earmarked the team he would be interested in targeting – Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid – in the hopes of a South American exchange.
The player in contention for a swap transfer is former Udinese talisman Rodrigo De Paul, who himself has so far failed to prosper in Spain. However, it is understood that Rojiblancos are not keen in parting ways with their previous summer signing.
The Argentine connection between the two teams cannot be denied and might hold the key to successful negotiations, but it is highly unlikely that Atletico would be interested in such a move.
