Arkadiusz Milik About to Join Olympique Marseille

Arkadiusz Milik is set to finalize his transfer to Olympique Marseille soon as he is flying out to have the medicals today, Sky Sport informs. The two clubs have reached agreement on an initial 18-month loan with an €8M obligation to buy plus €4M bonuses, while other sources are reporting a €13M package, and the player will ink a contract until 2025 and will make over €4M per year.

The Partenopei will also get the 20% percent of a future sale, but the rumoured clause forbidding a return to Serie A was not inserted in the deal. The management and the representatives of the player cleared the final hurdles on Wednesday as they renounced to the potential lawsuits against each other as the relationship had gone sour over the last year.

Our view

The 26-year-old Polish international gets his wish to resume playing after being frozen out in the first part of the season, while the Azzurri successfully avoid losing him for nothing at the end of his contract, especially to Juventus, even though the fee is considerably lower than what Roma were going to pay in the last window.

Milik has been pretty productive when healthy, but never quite managed to get the starring role he hoped due to the presence of Dries Mertens and their reluctance to use two strikers at the same in previous campaigns.
