Arrigo Sacchi Delivers Stinging Milan Criticism

Milan are going through arguably one of their worst ever spells under Stefano Pioli and Rossoneri legend Arrigo Sacchi has given his say regarding the poor streak that has seen them win just five of the last 12 outings.

In the meanwhile, the Rossoneri have crashed out of the Champions League with just one victory in the group stages and effectively thrown away their lead on top of Serie A standings to city rivals Inter, just like last season.

Sacchi spoke to he microphones of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) and parted with straightforward thoughts on Pioli’s outfit.

“The collapse of Pioli’s team cannot depend solely on injuries. This situation is not resolved even with the purchase of players since the clubs are all in debt,” he started.

Most recently, Milan succumbed to a narrow 1-0 loss against Napoli at the San Siro – falling to third place in the league.

Speaking of which, Sacchi said: “It’s a question of the game: the Rossoneri were aiming to move as a team. If the players are 60 metres from the ball carrier, there is no question of a team and this is exactly what is happening at Milan. The distances are critical: for this reason Napoli won, they were more compact.”

He stressed the fact that Milan are in confusion and the Rossoneri better start operating as an unit, rather than individuals wearing the same shirt.

“The Rossoneri are in total confusion. I would like to give some advice: it is useless to try to solve all the problems together, it is better to start with the most serious one at the moment, that is, that this is no longer a team. It is a scattered group where everyone does what they want. Watch out for the trap of success, when you start thinking that winning is always easy,” he explained.
