Arsenal Ahead of the Pack to Acquire Bologna Star

Bologna exec Giovanni Sartori anticipated Riccardo Calafiori moving abroad, and not to Juventus, if he were to leave, and Arsenal are leading Chelsea in the race to capture him. The Gunners could offer €47M for one of the few Azzurri who played well in Euro 2024, Corriere dello Sport informs (via Fantacalcio).

The Felsinei would rather keep him, but they’ll be pragmatic if the offer is particularly high. They have to give 40 percent of it to Basel as agreed upon during his transfer last summer. His contract doesn’t have a release clause.

Bologna will do what they can to stoke a bidding war between Arsenal and Chelsea and will likely greenlight the departure of Calafiori once the bids exceed €50M, while Juventus aren’t competitive at certain figures.

According to TuttoSport, the Bianconeri tried to move early, proposing €25/30M and a five-year contract to the player. However, the Rossoblù elected to wait, and their strategy was proven right, as his price tag increased. Their stance stiffened up once the Old Lady successfully lured Thiago Motta. Per Gianluca Di Marzio, PSG and Bayer Leverkusen are in the mix as well. The center-back’s future could be decided this week.

Our Take on Calafiori, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Juventus

It’d be a pity for Serie A to lose a talent just as he blossomed, but the income would be too juicy, and hopefully, he won’t get lost in the shuffle should he go to the Premier League. The Bianconeri can only hope he digs his heels in to stay in Serie A, but that’d be surprising given the teams involved.

  1. The problem is that Arsenal rate Kiwior a lot more higher than Calafiori.
Kiwior is the fastest player in the arsenal team which is unusual for such a big defender, he also has one of the best clean sheet records. So if Calafiori is valued at say £30 million the Kiwior would be valued at £60 million, due to the potential of this unique Polish( yes international) lightning fast versitle defender, who kept France to a one all draw back in 25th June. Sorry to say but the polish international Kiwior is a much better defender than Calafiori.
