Arsenal and Newcastle Turn Sights to Napoli Marksman After Vlahovic Failure

After losing out to Juventus in the race for Serbian sensation Dusan Vlahovic, Arsenal are keen on landing another hot Serie A prospect, as they seek to replace outbound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners were close to signing Vlahovic, having made the first offer, but the 22-year-old chose Juventus over other contenders.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is touted to be the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Nigerian marksman is valued around the same region as Vlahovic – and Napoli will not entertain any offer less than the €75m mark.

However, the Gunners aren’t the only team from the Premier League interested in Osimhen, as the world’s richest club in Newcastle United are also equally interested in bolstering their frontline. It will nonetheless be a huge task to lure Osimhen to Newcastle, given the Magpies precarious position in the league standings – in line for relegation to the second tier.

Napoli are still in contention to bag their first Scudetto title in more than thirty years and selling one of their best players does not seem to be a move that will be taken well by the Napoli faithful. Moreover, the Partenopei will be losing club legend Lorenzo Insigne at the end of the season after the club management failed to tie him down to a contract extension deal.

Arsenal are in need of a striker, as they look very likely to miss out on Champions League football next season due to their ineffectiveness in the final-third.

Osimhen only recently returned to playing ways from a terrible facial injury that he sustained a few months ago. He has 9 goals and two assists in 16 appearances for Napoli this term.
