Arsenal Defender Addresses Lingering Ties to Milan

Jakub Kiwior welcomed the links to Roma and Milan but suggested that he wasn’t close to departing and touted the Premier League in an interview with Polish publication Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It’s the best championship in the world in my mind. The most important difference is the pace of play. It forces you to make immediate decisions on the pitch.”

Kiwior was quizzed about the links to Milan and Roma and whether he’d return to Italy if Mikel Arteta signed off.

“It’s surely nice, and I’m happy there’s interest. However, I’m focused on the present. Moreover, there haven’t been conversations directly with me yet.”

According to Calciomercato, Milan have been trying to sign Kiwior on loan with an option. Arsenal, which paid €25M to acquire him from Spezia a year ago, have yet to decide what to do with the Pole. In any case, the conditions wouldn’t be favorable for the Rossoneri.

The defender has appeared 16 times across all competitions but has started just on 8 occasions.

Our Take on Milan and Kiwior

Their inactivity after adding Matteo Gabbia and Filippo Terracciano quickly is a signal that they won’t make a move just because but are waiting for the right opportunity. The former Spezia star would be just that. Still, even if Arsenal agree to an initial loan, it’s hard to imagine the clause to buy would be affordable. He’d be a good fit for Napoli too.
