Arsenal Fullback Asks to Leave, Gives Inter His Priority in Transfer Talks

Hector Bellerin recently visited the Arsenal headquarters to hand over a transfer request. He would like to join Inter, which are atop his list of destinations. The two clubs have been in talks for a while, but they have not agreed on the formula of the transfer, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Gunners have opened to the possibility of letting the Spanish defender leave on loan. However, Inter have asked for a simple option to buy him next summer. Instead, the London-based club would prefer to insert some conditions that would make the purchase mandatory.

Bellerin is fascinated by the idea of joining Inter because of their history and technical project, the journalist added. The Beneamata are in the market for a new right-back, having sold Achraf Hakimi to PSG for a potential €71M package. Despite the sum, they will not splurge for a replacement.

The Arsenal man may not be their top target, but he is certainly among the possible options. Moreover, Denzel Dumfries and Hans Hateboer would likely be more expensive or transfer for terms that are not as favorable. Inter will probably accelerate the negotiation now that the player has come forward.

Bellerin has been with the Gunners since 2011. Once a brilliant prospect, he has had to deal with multiple injuries over the last few seasons. In particular, he missed extended time with an ACL tear in 2019, and he has not fully returned to form since. He is also on Atletico Madrid radar should Kieran Trippier move back to the Premier League or Sime Vrslajko leave, Marca informs.
