Arsenal Looking to Hijack Inter Move For Gianluca Scamacca

Arsenal have reportedly pitched Sassuolo with an official bid for sought-after striker Gianluca Scamacca amid Inter talks. According to Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo, the Gunners have tabled a €35million offer for the Italy international.

Though Arsenal’s bid looks tempting, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali is aiming higher. He is keen to extort at least €40m to sanction Scamacca’s departure this summer. That figure is not beyond the Gunners’ reach.

Despite Mikel Arteta’s desperate desire to capture an out-and-out striker, Inter are still ahead in the race to sign the 23-year-old. The Nerazzurri have a verbal agreement with the player. Yet, everything is currently on stand-by.

Inter are working around the clock to land Paulo Dybala on a free transfer. At the same time, they are exploring the prospect of re-signing out-of-sorts Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international left Giuseppe Meazza to rejoin the Stamford Bridge outfit in a record-breaking deal last summer. However, the move has not panned out as expected. Lukaku is now closer to leaving west London than staying put.

The prospect of acquiring the Belgian’s services in a cut-price deal could be too tempting to resist if the opportunity presents itself. Therefore, Scamacca’s long-awaited switch to Inter will remain on the back seat for the time being.

That could pave the way for Arsenal to swoop in and take the Italian marksman away from his homeland. Arteta is frantically looking for a new striker to lead the line in the wake of Alexandre Lacazette’s imminent departure.

After losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in January, the Gunners are now on the verge of dispatching another long-serving striker. Lacazette’s contract at the Emirates Stadium is up later this month, with Lyon already in advanced talks with his entourages.

Scamacca is one of Italy’s finest talents, so Arsenal’s interest in snapping him up comes as no major surprise. And if Inter are to get the deal for the Sassuolo star over the line, they should pay attention to the Gunners’ movements in the market.
