Arsenal Regista Not Trasferring to Lazio Despite Buzz

Lazio could sign a new deep-lying playmaker to add more technique to their midfield, but a reunion between Jorginho and Maurizio Sarri isn’t in the cards. His agent Joao Santos stated that the Azzurri staple would stay at Arsenal in an interview with TvPlay (via EuroSport).

“He’s very comfortable with the Gunners, he’s playing in a very important league, and there’s a very meaningful event, the Community Shield, coming up in early August. There’s no ongoing negotiation with the Biancocelesti. To be honest, I don’t know if they really have the money to pay him. Though, that’s not the heart of the matter.”

“Our project is to stay at Arsenal, which can become the top team in England. Coach Mikel Arteta is an elite coach. He knows and promotes modern football like nobody else. Logically, having somebody like Jorginho in the squad is the best for him.”

The 31-year-old moved from Chelsea to the Gunners for €11.3M last January. He recorded 16 appearances in the second half of the past season.

Our Take on Lazio and Jorginho

It could have maybe happened if he was still with Chelsea and they needed to trim their squad. He didn’t transfer for a big sum during the winter after all. In addition, his wages are bulky. They made do with Danilo Cataldi, Matias Vecino, and Marcos Antonio, but a true maestro would take their ball handling to the next level. They shouldn’t mess about if they could really sign Lucas Torreira for an affordable fee.
