Arthur Melo Keen to Leave Juventus for European Heavyweights

Out-of-sorts midfielder Arthur Melo could be on his way out of Juventus in the coming months following a single season in Serie A. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Paris Fans), the Brazilian’s representatives have made contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential summer move.

Arthur joined Juventus from Barcelona in a €72million deal last summer, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. However, the move has not worked out as expected, with the 24-year-old struggling to find his feet in Turin under Andrea Pirlo.

After making just 13 starts in the 2020/21 Serie A season, the ex-Gremio playmaker is trying to force his way out of Italy. It’s yet to be seen whether the new manager Massimiliano Allegri wants Arthur to stay and fight for his place in the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, the player seems to have no doubts about his future as he looks to depart Juventus to team up with Paris Saint-Germain. Arthur’s representatives have already pitched the dethroned Ligue 1 champions with the prospect of hiring their client.

Mauricio Pochettino, who would like to forget his first six months at the Parc des Princes, is keen to put his own stamp on the PSG squad this summer. The Argentine manager is on the lookout for a centre-midfielder to link up with the likes of Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes next season.

Having arrived in Paris only last summer, Danilo Pereira has failed to live up to expectations. Often used as a makeshift defender, the Portugal international has not impressed in his preferred position, which could open the space for Arthur.

On the other hand, Juventus have already identified Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli as their prime transfer target heading into the summer transfer window.
