Ascoli Bid Sottil Goodbye, Expected to Hire Milan Legend Inzaghi

With Andrea Sottil expected to take over the dugout at Udinese, replacing Gabriele Cioffi, Ascoli owner Massimo Pulcinelli is preparing to hire a new coach by the end of the week and Rossoneri legend Filippo Inzaghi is in pole position to lead the Picchi in Serie B next campaign.

Ascoli have already formalized the farewell with Sottil and Udinese’s announcement is imminent. Keeping that in mind, Inzaghi, who led Brescia throughout the 2021/22 season, is Ascoli’s number one target, as per TUTTOmercatoweb.

The two parties will reportedly meet on Tuesday, along with sporting director Marco Valentini, after Pulcinelli officially confirmed his interest in the former Juventus and Milan man in an Instagram story, by saying: “Our first choice.”

Super Pippo helped the Biancazzurri land in 5th place in the second-tier last season, ending his stint with just five defeats from 32 matches.

Ascoli look serious in their quest for Inzaghi’s signature, believing that the legendary striker is the perfect man to lead the line back into Serie A for the first time since 2006/07. The club missed out on the chance to make it to the first-tier, having been eliminated in the promotion play-off quarter-finals at the hands of Benevento.
