It has been a busy start of the week for Atalanta, which will bid farewell to Jeremie Boga and sign El Bilal Touré. They have quickly completed the negotiation with Nice concerning the winger. They’ll get €18M plus add-ons, Sky reports.
The ex-Sassuolo attacker will depart after a year and a half when he didn’t become an indispensable starter. He appeared 47 times, notching 4 goals and 6 assists. He had joined for €22M from the Neroverdi.
Atalanta quickly reinvested what they got from Boga, and more, on Touré. The Almeria striker is expected to travel to Italy within the next two days. La Dea accelerated the talks because Everton were challenging them.
The Bergamaschi will pay €30M including bonuses, a club record. He scored 7 times and set up his teammates twice in 21 matches last season. He’ll likely wind up replacing Rasmus Hojlund, for whom Manchester United should table a formal bid by Thursday, Alfredo Pedullà informs.
Erik ten Hag when asked on progress in getting new striker: “We make progress, yeah, but you know how it works” 🔴
“We’ll do everything in our power to get it done. We need as soon as possible. Ideally he’d be here but it’s not always possible to make it happen”. pic.twitter.com/Zk9E5VO577

Our Take on Atalanta, Boga, and Touré
It’s a solid return for a player Gian Piero Gasperini didn’t fully embrace. The prodigy is a bit expensive, but the competition drove up the price tag. They probably wouldn’t have spent this much for another forward without having a good sense that their own starlet would depart, even though the temporal order is the other way around.
