Atalanta and PSG Burst Into Fray to Sign Inter Starlet

Monza and Salernitana were dueling to sign Andrea Pinamonti early on, but bigger teams have come forward for him, as Atalanta and PSG are also pursuing him now. La Dea, in particular, seems to have the preference of the player, but they have not met Inter’s requests just yet.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Luis Campos extensively scouted Serie A last season. He wants to bring in a young striker to groom behind their stars. They have not been able to bend Sassuolo’s resistance for Gianluca Scamacca so far. They have turned their sights toward the former Empoli loanee, who would be less expensive.

On the other hand, PSG likely need to cut down their squad, and especially part ways with Mauro Icardi, before sealing the deal for Pinamonti or other attackers, which gives Atalanta and the other suitors some time. According to La Repubblica, the 23-year-old has rebuffed Monza and Torino to move to Bergamo. There is optimism, but La Beneamata wants €18/20M, and the Orobici have not gotten that high.

Gian Piero Gasperini urged the management to sign a new forward this summer. Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has not given yet. Moreover, the Brianzoli are trying to lure Icardi himself. The deal is very difficult but not impossible, Corriere della Sera relays.

Our Take on PSG and Atalanta Eyeing Pinamonti

The youngster would be a nice acquisition for La Dea as he would be able to play with both Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel, and he has the mobile and tenacious style they like up front. The move to Ligue 1 would be risky for him, but it depends on how their roster shakes out. Inter, which are negotiating Milan Skriniar with the French champions, must be licking their chops at the prospect of an unexpectedly high fee.
