Atalanta Ask for Juventus Defender as Tottenham Close In on Romero

The talks have had some up-and-downs but Cristian Romero now seems very close to joining Tottenham. The Spurs have improved their offer to Atalanta and have the will of the player in their pocket. The two clubs are discussing the installments, which means that the negotiation is very advanced, Alfredo Pedullà reports.

The London club has put €50M on the table for the Argentinian defender. They are ironing out the details of the bonuses, which could amount up to €7M with different degrees of feasibility, Tuttomercatoweb informs. The Bergamaschi will get at least €5M more in the future, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

Atalanta already signed Matteo Lovato last week to bolster the defense. Despite Gian Piero Gasperini’s words, they will bring in another center-back after selling Romero. Their preferred target is Merih Demiral according to Gazzetta. Director Giovanni Sartori requested the player to Juventus yesterday. The parties are contemplating various formulas and the Bianconeri are open to letting him leave on an initial loan.

The deal is at its early stages, but there appears to be ground to reach an agreement. Although, Atalanta and Juventus are €10M apart on the price tag, Calciomercato.com informs. The Old Lady value Demiral €35M and would like to insert the percentage of a future sale in the deal. The teams will have a face-to-face meeting once the Orobici will have parted ways with Romero. The former Sassuolo defender is keen on moving as he is eager to get regular playing time.
