Atalanta Disinterested to Engage Valencia in Palestra Pursuit

Spanish side Valencia’s hunt for a right-back has brought them to Italy, with Los Che eyeing a particular talent from Atalanta’s youth ranks in Marco Palestra.

As per Il Giorno, Atalanta have been alerted of Valencia’s interest in signing Palestra, who joined Atalanta as a youngster aged just 10 back in 2015. However, La Dea seem disinterested in hearing any proposals for the teenage prodigy, although the right offer may just change their opinion.

Palestra, well-touted for his ability to advance down the right flank, is highly-regarded amongst the Nerazzurri ranks, with Gian Piero Gasperini inviting the 19-year-old to the first team bench on several occasions the past Serie A season.

As part of the UEFA Europa League winning squad, Palestra made his debut for the club in December 2023 against Rakow Czestochowa in the group stages. He also has 1 goal and 2 assists in 9 appearances for Italy U19.

Our Take on Valencia’s Palestra Trail

Since 2022, Palestra has often trained with the Atalanta first team and even featured in two friendlies against OGC Nice and Sevilla respectively. He is expected to lead the line in the future, for both club and nation. It is unlikely for Atalanta, who have long mastered the art of youth development, to let go of Palestra without milking a sizeable profit.
