Atalanta are nearing an agreement with Salernitana for Ederson. The midfielder turned heads since joining in January and was highly instrumental in the Granata’s bid to avoid relegation.
La Dea offered €15M plus some of their young players, and the counterparty is leaning towards accepting the proposal, Corriere della Sera informs. The deal is multi-layered, so it could take some time to get done. Matteo Lovato, who spent the last six months on loan to Cagliari, is likely to be part of the package. La Bersagliera is also keen on Mustapha Cissé and Caleb Okoli.
Salernitana would make an instant profit on Ederson should they sell him to Atalanta or other sides. They signed him for €6.5M in January from Corinthians. He tallied 15 Serie A appearances, scoring twice. He previously played at Fortaleza and Cruzeiro. The Bergamaschi are in the midst of reshaping their midfield. Matteo Pessina is being pursued by Monza and Torino.
Our Take on Atalanta Closing In on Ederson
Gian Piero Gasperini had urged the team to make their plans and ambitions known. The powerbrokers responded by buying out Merih Demiral for €20M and setting up another pricey acquisition. If all goes according to plan, they will be back in the mix for a Champions League berth. The midfielder has been tremendous since moving to Italy. While the small sample size is an element of risk, his energy and well-rounded game make him a safe bet to succeed. This would be a great landing spot for Andrea Cambiaso too.
