Atalanta Going After Two Promising Serie A Midfielders

Atalanta aim to bring in a new midfielder in the summer and have opened talks for Ivan Ilic and Ederson. They are closer to the former, as Salernitana are putting up strong resistance for their ace. Instead, Verona appear more inclined to sell.

According to La Repubblica, La Dea and Lazio are dueling for the Serbian. However, the Biancocelesti have to wait before finalizing further acquisitions. The Orobici could take advantage of the situation. The Scaligeri ask for €18M for the 21-year-old, while the two prospective buyers offered €15M.

Atalanta had tendered the same fee for Ederson before furthering the negotiation for Ilic, L’Eco di Bergamo informs. The Granata CEO Maurizio Milan spoke about their midfielder to Il Mattino (via SportMediaset).

“We are also in talks with Inter, while La Dea tabled a tangible bid. The will of the player will be key. Our evaluation exceeds the €20M threshold. A foreign team might surface next week.”

The Brazilian was linked to PSG before the ousting of Leonardo, Corriere dello Sport reported. According to Gazzetta, the Bergamaschi could sell Mario Pasalic or Matteo Pessina if they onboarded a new contributor.

Our Take on Atalanta Eyeing Ederson and Ilic

Either would be a quality addition for the Nerazzurri. Their value is set to keep growing, making the prospect of profiting on a future sale very real. It is weird that they are addressing the midfield first, though, as they are already pretty deep there. Instead, they still have a Robin Gosens-sized hole on the left flank.
