Atalanta signed a few attackers in the most recent window, but they always keep an eye on starlets, including Daniel Maldini, who’s already on Inter and Juventus radar after a convincing start to his season.
La Dea’s CEO Luca Percassi was quizzed about the Monza star by Sky.
“He has enormous talent and comes from a very prestigious family. He’s obviously somebody we have to follow. We’re happy of what he’s doing because he’s Italian. We hope he doesn’t do well in the next game since we’ll face him, but we’re surely monitoring him.”
Monza’s director Adriano Galliani rubbished the reports about Inter eyeing Maldini (via Ansa).
“I’ve never spoken about him with Giuseppe Marotta or anybody else. I talk with the player every day. Nobody has requested him, so it’s something that doesn’t exist. Moreover, I’m a Milan fan, so leave me alone.”
The 23-year-old has scored and assisted once in the first eight Serie A matches. He recently debuted with Italy, which called him up also because Venezuela were courting him. Milan let him go for free but with a robust re-sale clause last summer. He’s under contract until 2026, with an automatic option to renew it should the Brianzoli stay in Serie A.
Our Take on Atalanta, Inter, and Maldini
He’s been pretty good but not exactly otherworldly to start the season, but he’s bound to depart sooner rather than later as he won’t be too expensive and Monza are always willing to play ball when it comes to transfer formulas. The Bergamaschi are pretty stacked at the moment, but, while Ademola Lookman stayed put, they haven’t renewed his contract afterward, and it won’t be long before a top team targets him again.
