Atalanta Mulling Over Surprising Changing of the Guard

Juan Musso has not fully lived up to expectations this season, and Atalanta will consider partying ways with him in the summer. However, it will take a considerable offer. La Dea would be looking to recoup the €20M investment, if not even turn in a profit on his departure.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, a few Serie A sides are interested in the Argentinian goalkeeper, but his evaluation is an obstacle. In particular, Fiorentina, Napoli, and Lazio would be in on him if he was available on the transfer market.

Atalanta could opt to sell Musso also because they would not have to look for a replacement. They would turn to Marco Carnesecchi, who has shown well at Cremonese. Moreover, Pierluigi Gollini will be back after a loan spell at Tottenham.

All three potential suitors have fluid situations between the sticks. The Viola are seeking a new option since Bartlomiej Dragowski is on his way out, and Pietro Terracciano has not been super reliable down the stretch. As for Napoli, David Ospina is on an expiring contract, while Alex Meret’s deal runs out in 2023. The recent blunder did not help his bid to be their next permanent starter. Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina also do not have much time left on their pacts.

According to the publication, Lazio would be in pole position because they will probably cash in on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, which would bankroll multiple acquisitions. Moreover, they could offer Atalanta interesting makeweights to land Musso, for instance, Manuel Lazzari or Francesco Acerbi.
