Atalanta Not Budging Despite Star’s Stunning Move

Teun Koopmeiners is blatantly trying to force his way out, but the negotiation between Atalanta and Juventus hasn’t advanced afterward. The player has stopped practicing and produced a medical certificate to be exonerated due to stress, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

He had done something similar to facilitate his switch from AZ Alkmaar to La Dea in the past. Without a reconciliation, he won’t be called up for the Super Cup against Real Madrid and possibly the first Serie A games.

Atalanta are irate with Koopmeiners and Juventus especially because they expected the Bianconeri to meet their request a lot earlier in the summer. Despite the buzz, the potential buyers have stayed silent for several weeks.

The contacts have reprised as of late but the bid, about €50M plus add-ons, fell short of his €60M price tag. The Bergamaschi are refusing to engage because they think it’s too late to find a quality replacement. Gian Piero Gasperini’s interview added fuel to the fire, and the brass didn’t like it either.

The Dutchman believes the Nerazzurri promised to let him go last summer when they turned down a proposal from Napoli. The front office isn’t afraid of keeping him against his will.

Our Take on Koopmeiners, Juventus, and Atalanta

It’s still a big mess despite the latest developments, and we will see who blinks first. It has been an odd and mistimed pursuit by the Old Lady, but their offer is far from ludicrous. La Dea shouldn’t further escalate things for a few more million. It’s not great, but massive deals happening late is nothing new.
