Atalanta on Brink of Signing Jeremie Boga from Sassuolo

It seemingly took Atalanta just a little raise to convince Sassuolo to sell Jeremie Boga. After their initial €20M bid was rejected, the Bergamaschi have reached agreement with the Neroverdi. They will pay €22M plus add-ons for the winger, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. He will take the medicals Monday.

Atalanta have been coveting Boga for at least a couple of years. Their interest has not waned even though his performances have dipped lately. He has scored a total of four goals and provided four assists in 39 matches since September of 2020. Instead, he hit the net 11 times and dished 2 helpers in 34 games in his best campaign in 2019-2020.

Sassuolo have gotten used to not having the 24-year-old in the lineup. Due to a pair of injuries, he has started just once since October. In the meantime, the Emilian side has been relying on Gianluca Scamacca as no.9 and moved Giacomo Raspadori to the flank. The sale makes it more likely that they will hold onto the two youngsters.

Gian Piero Gasperini had been searching for a speedster to add to his offensive rotation. Atalanta tried multiple times to acquire Boga in the past. However, his price tag was around €40M in previous windows. After the purchase, La Dea will probably part ways with Aleksey Miranchuk, who is on Genoa and Verona’s radar. Luis Muriel’s future is also uncertain, but he generally plays in a different role. The newcomer will participate in the African Cup of Nation and will be unavailable until February.
