Atalanta Owner Takes Three Coveted Attackers Off the Transfer Market

Atalanta do not want to break up their front-line in the upcoming window and are poised to reject the offers for Duvan Zapata, Luis Muriel, and Ruslan Malinovskyi. President Antonio Percassi weighed in on few topics in an interview with L’Eco di Bergamo but did not mention Robin Gosens among the untouchable players.

“Atalanta have had the best attack in Serie A for three straight years. As far as I am concerned, Muriel, Zapata, and Malinovskyi will all stay and are not for sale. Moreover, I want to see what the future holds for Aleksey Miranchuk. For now, we consider Josip Ilicic a valuable piece too.”

“We will try to improve the squad; I asked to add a couple more contributors like it happened last season with Cristian Romero and Matteo Pessina. We can make an investment under the right circumstances, but buying without selling is not feasible. If somebody left, we would replace him properly. The manager does not want a large roster, so we are looking to strengthen our regular XI.”

Atalanta have been linked to multiple goalkeepers to make a change in that position: “Pierluigi Gollini is a strong player and a good guy. But we will see what will happen during the window, and the same goes for everybody.”

Gian Piero Gasperini was not involved in the ample Serie A coaching carousel: “He still has three years left on his contract; he can stay as long as he wants to. I do not know why I have to repeat that every time.” He concluded by commenting on Atalanta potentially making a run for the Scudetto: “Our title consists of keeping the balance sheets in order while achieving good results on the pitch.”
