Atalanta Player Ratings vs Leverkusen: Majestic Lookman Settles UEL Final

At the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen clashed heads in the widely anticipated Europa League Final. Despite their perfect campaign, the German champions proved no match to Gian Piero Gasperini’s Lombardian band who had the upper hand from start to finish. Ademola Lookman was the hero of the night with an absolutely sensational hat trick. So here are our player ratings for Atalanta who lifted their first continental trophy following a stunning 3-0 win over Leverkusen.

Atalanta (3-4-2-1)

Juan Musso – 6.5

Surprisingly, the Argentine goalkeeper didn’t have an awful lot to do as Xabi Alonso’s men were kept quiet. But he always looked alert to the danger and ready to exit his goal at the right timing.

Berat Djimsiti – 7

The Atalanta captain of the night was resolute at the back, comfortably containing the likes of Victor Boniface and Adam Hlozek in the second half.

Isak Hien – 7.5

The former Verona man is proving to be a shrewd piece of business on La Dea’s part. He managed to keep Yacine Adli and the other Leverkusen strikers in his pocket all night, and was always the first to the ball.

Sead Kolasinac – 6

The Bosnian veteran had a solid outing at the back but left his place for Scalvini after the interval.

Davide Zappacosta – 7

The former Chelsea man made the clever run on the first goal before delivering the square ball that evaded everyone before reaching Lookman. He ran out of steam in the second period as evidenced by the challenge that earned him a yellow card, but the damage was already done.

Ederson – 7.5

The Brazilian absolutely bossed the middle of the park. He seemed to be operating at a different pace from everyone else. Had a few cracks at goal, but couldn’t put his name on the scoresheet.

Teun Koopmeiners – 7.5

The Dutchman has been superb this season, and tonight was no exception. Picked up Zappacosta with a dashing pass which led to the opener. Covered every inch of the pitch and won back possession on several occasions.

Matteo Ruggeri – 6.5

The Italian didn’t put a foot wrong all night, even if his performance wasn’t as thrilling as some of the other Atalanta stars.

Charles De Ketelaere – 6.5

A good outing from the former Milan man who looked lively in the final third and also tracked back to support his teammates. But his outing ended early in the second half as Gasperini opted to introduce Pasalic as an extra midfielder.

Ademola Lookman – 9.5

This is probably the highest rating we’ve ever given, but the Nigerian certainly warrants it after scoring three fabulous goals that brought down a club that has been undefeated all season and simultaneously earned Atalanta their first European trophy. Aside from the goals, Lookman truly looked inspired with every majestic touch.

Gianluca Scamacca – 7

The Italian tested Matej Kovar with a couple of shots but lacked power and precision. Nevertheless, it was an impressive display from the striker who made himself available all evening and even provided the assist for the third goal.

Giorgio Scalvini – 6

The young Atalanta defender looked splendid in the second half, but almost gave away a late spot-kick.

A brilliant second-half showing from the Croatian who solidified La Dea’s midfield. Won back possession and kickstarted the play that culminated in the third goal.
