Atalanta Pounce on Bellanova with Quick Negotiation

Atalanta have snapped up Raoul Bellanova in a flash deal, quickly finding common ground with Torino after setting sights on him. La Dea had been looking for a right wing-back throughout the summer but had some issues with other targets, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

The Bergamaschi had reached an agreement with Almeria for Marc Pubill, but they did not finalize the deal after medicals. They had made strides to onboard Wesley from Flamengo. However, some late problems emerged, and the team turned their attention toward the Italian international.

Bellanova will take the medicals ahead of his Atalanta move on Thursday. The Nerazzurri will pay €22M plus €3M add-ons. Torino didn’t want to sell another star after Alessandro Buongiorno, but they signed off after their valuation was met without a hitch.

The 24-year-old already spent time at the club in 2019/2020 on loan from Bordeaux fresh off the Milan Primavera but played just once. He’s coming off his best season yet as he tallied seven assists and scored once in 2023/2024.

Torino plan to bounce back by signing Marcus Pedersen from Feyenoord. He starred for Sassuolo last season. They acquired Borna Sosa on loan from Ajax earlier in the summer, which will allow them to move Valentino Lazaro to the right wing.

Our Take on Atalanta and Bellanova

It’s a perfect fit given his style, speed and stamina. He just needs to improve his touch in the box to make the final leap. They had to pay a pretty penny to get him after less expensive deals fell through, but he’s well worth the investment.
