Despite Juventus’ relentless effort to price Teun Koopmeiners out of Atalanta, the record-time Italian champions seem destined to end up empty-handed. According to Calciomercato, Gian Piero Gasperini has deemed his midfield talisman non-transferable and stays determined to fend off Bianconeri’s interest.
Juventus boss Thiago Motta desperately wants Koopmeiners after losing Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer. The Turin giants are reportedly ready to launch a decisive assault on the Netherlands international, with Matias Soule set to join Roma in a crucial deal.
The Argentine forward’s departure will help the Turin club raise funds for the 26-year-old. However, Atalanta will stay firm. Juventus are now willing to go up to €48 million to close the deal, while Gasperini’s men hold out for their staggering €60m price tag.
On top of that, Atalanta already rejected a similar proposal for their star midfielder last summer. Koopmeiners has reinforced the club’s ambition to keep hold of him with a stellar 2023/24 campaign. He was the centerpiece of Gasperini’s tactics as Atalanta mustered a superb season.
In addition to returning to the Champions League via a fourth-place finish in Serie A, Atalanta knocked Bayer Leverkusen down from a formidable winning run to win the Europa League title against the odds.
More importantly, Atalanta want no business with Juventus. Bianconeri’s attempt to contact the players’ camp behind their back toward the end of last season hasn’t gone well with La Dea’s hierarchy. As a result, they’re unwilling to discuss the transfer with their Serie A rivals.
