Atalanta, Roma, and Juventus Hit by the Injury Bug

A few teams have started losing pieces six weeks into the season. Atalanta will have to make do without Isak Hien and Marco Brescianini due to injury in the next two matches and potentially longer. The defender was a late scratch for the Bologna game and was diagnosed with a muscular distraction but shouldn’t be out for long, L’Eco Di Bergamo reports.

The midfielder sustained a more severe issue in the meeting with the Rossoblù: a grade-two biceps femoris strain. He’ll be sidelined for five weeks and will miss time past the upcoming international break. Matteo Ruggeri is unavailable midweek due to knee soreness.

Paulo Dybala was on the bench against Venezia despite some thigh soreness. However, he never warmed up and didn’t sub in. He didn’t practice at the beginning of the week, but the tests were negative, Il Tempo reports (via Mediaset). He’ll likely be spared versus Elfsborg to try to be ready against Monza. Gianluca Mancini is fine after subbing off but could get a breather. Mats Hummels is likely to make his debut in the Europa League fixture.

Juventus won’t have Timothy Weah against RB Leipzig either after he sat out the Genoa tilt already due to a minor ankle injury, La Stampa reports (via Fantacalcio). Instead, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic was removed from the XI to face Lazio due to a knee contusion.  There’s optimism it’s nothing more than that and he’ll be fit for the Inter clash.

Udinese’s Martin Payero sat out the last matches due to an ankle injury. He was stretchered off because of it in Coppa Italia. However, the situation is less severe than initially feared. He didn’t sustain ligament or bone damage, Messaggero Veneto relays. He could be back in mid-October.
