Ederson is thriving in his second Atalanta season, and Newcastle United have set sights on him as they seek a Sandro Tonali substitute. The Brazilian scored his fifth goal of the season against Udinese in the most recent round.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta want €40M to sell the former Salernitana star. He’s not necessarily untransferable, but it’ll take a substantial offer for him to leave. They had paid €15M plus Matteo Lovato to acquire him from the Granata for a total of €26M.
La Dea wishes to keep ahold of Ederson in January despite the interest from Newcastle United. However, they had the same position concerning Rasmus Hojlund last summer. Manchester United eventually made them cave thanks to a large bid.
As they always do, the Bergamaschi will listen to the proposals. While he’s too pricey for other Serie A sides, an English team, either the Magpies or another one, could reach that threshold. At that point, they’d have to decide whether to hold firm or start looking for a replacement.
