Atalanta are going after Nuno Tavares to bolster their left flank. They failed to do so in January when Robin Gosens departed, but they will address it in the summer. The versatile Davide Zappacosta adapted to the role. While he was pretty good, their options on the right-flank left a lot to be desired.
As per Corriere della Sera, La Dea is discussing an initial loan with Arsenal. The Italian side is particularly impressed by the physical traits of the 22-year-old. He joined last year from Benfica in an €8M move. He notched 28 appearances in his first season in London, scoring once and providing 2 assists across all competitions.
Atalanta will most likely request to include an option to buy in the Nuno Tavares deal. It is uncertain whether the Gunners will grant it considering the short time he has spent at the club. He has tallied 13 starts in Premier League in 2021/2022, finishing on a high note.
The Bergamaschi would have better chances of being successful if the English outfit acquired another specialist. They are one of the sides pursuing Bologna’s Aaron Hickey. The Scottish prodigy will likely flee Serie A this summer, The Daily Mirror relays.
Our Take on Atalanta Targeting Nuno Tavares
The Nerazzurri definitely need a new wing-back, and preferably a left-footed one, to round out their squad and make it more dangerous. The Portuguese would be an interesting choice as he has plenty of untapped potential. However, Arsenal might ultimately prefer to keep him this summer.
