Atalanta Set to Complete Double Swoop on the Left Wing

After a brief negotiation, Atalanta have sealed the deal to onboard Mitchel Bakker, who will form their revamped left flank along with Sead Kolasinac. The latter has already taken the medicals, while the former will start them Thursday afternoon, L’Eco di Bergamo informs.

La Dea will pay around €10M to acquire the Bayer Leverkusen defender. He will ink a four-year contract. He’s a product of Ajax’s youth academy and moved to Bundesliga after two seasons at PSG. He has recorded 5 goals and 7 assists in 70 appearances with Die Aspirin.

While Atalanta paid a fee to onboard Bakker, Kolasinac is joining on a Bosman move. His contract with Olympique Marseille ran out on June 30th. He’s coming off his most prolific campaign yet, as he hit the net four times in 2022/2023.

The veteran previously played at Arsenal and Schalke 04. He’ll put pen to paper on a three-year deal with an option. He can also feature as a center-back.

Our Take on Atalanta Signing Bakker and Kolasinac

They needed reinforcements in such a position, as Matteo Ruggeri is their only lefty but he’s still raw and injury prone. There were more alluring Serie A options, but they would have had to spend more. The Dutchman likely has some more levels to go before being a finished product.
