Atalanta ace Ademola Lookman explained how his move to Bergamo came to be and spoke about his season, the upcoming clash with Lazio, and his teammates in an interview with L’Eco di Bergamo (via Calciomercato).
“Director Lee Congerton knew me very well. I talked with the club in the summer and I was quickly convinced it would be the best destination for me. Everybody in England recognizes Atalanta’s worth. We have seen what they accomplished in recent years. I was aware I would join a great team that scores a lot.”
The forward previewed the next fixture.
“We will try to win as always, and the opponents realize it when they face us. Lazio are a strong side and it’ll be tough game, as any in Italy. We are ready to resume collecting points. Serie A is as challenging as Premier League. Every club is solid and compete at a thigh level.”
Lookman hailed the pairing with Rasmus Hojlund.
“I’m comfortable next too him. He’s an excellent player, and the future is on his side. He works hard, he’s always focused, and he’s visibly improving. I’m sure he’ll keep up on this path. My model is Sadio Mané.”
The forward is in the running for the Capocannoniere accolade.
“I have an objective in mind, but I don’t want to be affected by it. In reality, I prefer to take it game by game. I have never paid attention to records. Victor Osimhen is my rival in the scoring chart, and I don’t know who will come out on top. He’s an exceptional player with incredible skills. Everybody can see what kind of champion he is.”
