Atalanta Starlet Scalvini Coy on Transfer Market Buzz

Giorgio Scalvini will have rich suitors come next summer, but the defender isn’t concerned with the rumors. He spoke with Tuttomercatoweb.

“I used to alternate between the Primavera and the first team last season. Instead, I’ve been part of the group since day one this year. The coach still asks me the same things: work hard, improve, and learn from my teammates. I feel 19, even though Gian Piero Gasperini and Gianluca Mancini treat me as if I was 30. They say that to give me more responsibility and confidence. They have high expectations.”

Scalvini was quizzed about the interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

“I’m serene and don’t feel the pressure coming from the whispers. I manage to isolate myself and focus on pitch-related matters, which is what the gaffer demands. It’s pleasing, but I don’t pay much attention to it. I’m concentrated on the present and Atalanta. Nobody knows what the future holds. I just have to think about doing well here.”

Scalvini doesn’t seem in a rush to depart.

“I’m very comfortable in Bergamo. I’m attached to the club, the management, my teammates, and the coaching staff. This team raised me and then gave me a chance. I can’t say where I will be in a year or five. I’d be happy if it was still at Atalanta. I’ll always do my best for this jersey.”

“We are in the running to qualify for Europe with five games to go. The seventh place might not be enough. We are close to Roma, Milan, and Inter. We have to win as many matches as possible to reach our goal.”
