Giorgio Scalvini is in the crosshairs of the biggest teams in Italy and Europe, but Atalanta might manage to keep him next summer too thanks to a contract extension. The defender talked about his future with TuttoSport (via Mediaset).
“I only wish to thank all the coaches I had in the youth sector and Gian Piero Gasperini for making me grow and giving me the chance to play at a high level. However, I think it’s essential to see those big price tags as a starting point to get better. I recall the first practices with my current coach. He treats me as if I’ve been part of the group for a long time. That’s a major advantage since it makes you feel important. I’ve improved a lot tactically, technically, personality-wise, and in making choices.”
Scalvini recently renewed his contract until 2028.
“It makes me very happy. I’m grateful to the team and I’m very attached to the Atalanta family. I was a kid when I joined, and I’m becoming a man with this jersey. There’s only this club in my mind. I feel great here. I’m even-keeled in my everyday life too. Being given the chance of making mistakes gives you a different mentality and spirit.”
Scalvini looked ahead at Euro 2024.
“Wearing the national team jersey is always a big emotion. I was with the U-19 squad when we won the last one. My call-up depends on what I accomplish with La Dea.”
