Atalanta Will Onboard Former Roma and Inter Players

Atalanta will add two veterans in the next few days, as they have come to terms with Rui Patricio and Juan Cuadrado, who were out of contract after their spells at Roma and Inter. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed that the two signings were imminent following the defeat against Torino.

According to Mediaset, the goalkeeper will sign a one-year contract with an option. Instead, the winger just a seasonal deal. The Colombian has passed the medicals. Significant injury woes derailed his stay with the Nerazzurri in 2023/2024.

Atalanta targeted Rui Patricio because they’ll sell Juan Musso to Atletico Madrid, while Cuadrado will simply bolster their depth. The Argentine opened the season as the starter over Marco Carnesecchi. The gaffer stated a few times that he didn’t like alternating between the two. He’ll be Jan Oblak’s deputy in the Spanish capital.

The shot-stopper manned the sticks for Roma for two seasons and change before being supplanted by Mile Svilar. He starred for Sporting CP and Wolverhampton earlier in his career. The Bergamaschi will onboard another wing player despite signing Raoul Bellanova from Torino last week. He spent most of his Italy sojourn with Juventus after breaking out with Lecce and Fiorentina back in the day.

Our Take on Atalanta Signing Cuadrado and Rui Patricio

Two slightly weird acquisitions given their usual MO, but the former will plug a hole for cheap, and it was about time they fully committed to Carnesecchi, while the Colombian will likely mostly be a super sub in a few roles and add some experience. Gasperini likes a full deck out wide.
