Atalanta Winger Dishes on January and Bounce-Back Form

Jeremie Boga was heavily rumored to be on his way out during the winter, but he turned his Atalanta spell around lately, gaining more playing time and relevancy in their schemes. He addressed what occurred to L’Eco di Bergamo (via Calciomercato).

“I never asked to leave because I knew I hadn’t done what I came here to do yet. All of this is the result of hard work, both on my own and with the team and the coach. It just takes times on some occasions. Our efforts are getting rewarded, and we are all happy for it.”

“I’ve always been in a good headspace, even though not featuring or scoring could have hurt me. The problem wasn’t tactical in my opinion. I just needed consistency, and some injuries negatively contributed too. I’m playing now, I dished a few assists and bagged a goal. That makes everything easier.”

Boga was linked to Leicester City and Fiorentina in the past window.

“In January, the club told me that they were unwilling to open any negotiation and that I would get more minutes. I’ve perceived everybody’s trust and realized it was up to me to repay it.”

The slippery attacker started to shine in a cameo off the bench versus Bologna.

“I didn’t expect to play in that game, but I was ready. I’ve always been in my mind, and I was very hungry to contribute. When such opportunity came, I saw it as a gift and wanted to seize it. It went well.”

Boga commented on some of his teammates.

Rasmus Hojlund is very fast, while Ademola Lookman has great nose for the goal. Everybody brings something to the table.”
