Atalanta’s Gasperini Dismisses Premier League Move for Striker Zapata

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is running out of patience with Premier League rumors linked to striker Duvan Zapata. The 31-year-old is the subject of interest from West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Everton, with the teams enquiring for his availability. Newcastle United have been linked too.

Speaking ahead of the 5-2 win over Spezia, Gasperini has echoed the club’s intention to keep Zapata, at least until the end of the season.

“This thing bothers me a lot, it’s a bad thing. I don’t know, the January market is flat like a sole. The other night I went to hug him because he was sad, he has done a lot for this team.” (via TuttoAtalanta)

The January winter transfer window closes in two weeks’ time, and the Premier League suitors are in a race against time to conclude a deal for Zapata, which looks highly unlikely.

The Colombian has 80 goals for the club in 175 appearances for La Dea.
