‘Impressive’ Atalanta Praised by Bundesliga Club President

Atalanta have been praised for their club working model and serve as a great example to learn from, according to Eintracht Frankfurt Chairman of supervisory board and President Phillip Holzer.

The Bergamo club have experienced a resurgence of sorts in recent seasons, especially since 2016/17 when Gian Piero Gasperini was appointed to take charge of the dugout. With significant attention placed on youth development and talent identification, La Dea have taken huge steps in establishing themselves as one of Serie A’s cream of the crop.

Speaking to Sport Bild (via Corriere Bergamo) in an exclusive interview, the 55-year-old Chairman of supervisory board praised Atalanta by saying: “What Atalanta have done in recent years is impressive. They have a consistent style of play, manage to rebuild failed players, tend to let people leave instead of paying crazy salaries. And with this policy they prevail against the big ones – clubs that have completely different resources.

Additionally, he mentioned the fact the both Frankfurt and Atalanta operate with almost similar budgets and that should serve as an example for the Bundesliga club. “They are playing with about the same budget as we are and qualified continuously for the Champions League. That should give hope to clubs like Frankfurt,” he said.

The President also particularly praised the Nerazzurri’s work in the youth department, as the Bergamo club have developed some talented footballers in recent years.

Atalanta and Frankfurt fan bases are known to have alliances that go back many years.
