Atalanta’s Robin Gosens Ruled Out With Month-Long Injury

As Atalanta edged out Young Boys 1-0 on matchday 2 of Group F, they were dealt with a huge blow regarding Robin Gosens just ten minutes into the match as he went to the ground clutching the back of his left leg.

His action immediately alarmed the team as it was clearly a serious injury, before he left the field in tears with the help of the medical staff.

According to latest reports from Italy, the Germany international has suffered from a severe lesion that could force him out for a minimum of a month’s time or potentially more.

Speaking to the press after the match, coach Gian Piero Gasperini said: “It’s a muscle injury in the thigh, but not that bad. We hope that Robin will be available to us again after the international break.”

Gosens is ruled out of Hansi Flick’s Germany side for their World Cup qualifiying matches against Romania on October 8th and against North Macedonia on October 11th.

He could also miss one or both of Atalanta’s matches against Manchester United in the Champions League.
