Atletico Madrid Pursuing Two Juventus Stars, Offer Swaps to Get Them

Atletico Madrid are interested in Paulo Dybala and Rodrigo Bentancur, who could leave Juventus in the summer. Diego Simeone is a long-time admirer of the Argentinian forward and previously tried to sign him to replace Antoine Griezmann. The two clubs could orchestrate some swaps to make the deals happen, Cadena Ser reports.

Dybala has just a year left on his contract and would rather stay and play it out. However, the team would likely put him on the market if the extension talks did not advance as they do not want to lose him for free in 2022, Eurosport informs. It has previously been suggested that he could transfer by June 30th, as it happened with Miralem Pjanic, to help the balance sheets.

Bentancur, instead, joined for €12.5M in 2017 as part of the Carlos Tevez deal, and his sale would yield a big profit. The Colchoneros have identified him as a suitable replacement for Lucas Torreira, who will head back to Arsenal following a loan spell. However, the Uruguayan midfielder is seen as a building block by Old Lady.

If Juventus agreed to sell one of the two players, a trade could be in order. The names on the tables are Alvaro Morata, as the Bianconeri have a €45M option to buy him out, and Angel Correa. The Italian club is keen on Saul Niguez and Joao Felix, whom they tracked in the past, but Atletico Madrid are unlikely to include them in the negotiation. In any case, the transfer market plans are currently on hold until the Bianconeri sort who their next coach will be.
